Bar Chat | CC:DISCO!

A quick drink at the bar with...

George Michael, Frankie Knuckles, Janet Jackson and CC:DISCO! walked into a bar… What happened next? We took a seat at our imaginary bar with CC:DISCO! to find out.

From big room house to disco exotica, unashamed pop and synth pleasures, expect a set brimming with character when she joins our residency finale at Pikes on Sunday 29 September.

First things first, what are you drinking (include recipe if you can)?

Absolute sucker for an espresso martini, yep bogan and proud of it.

When was the last time you went out for a drink alone?

Last night.

Seat at the bar or a quiet table in the corner?

Table always. I have a big ass and I really find sitting at bar awkward – those chairs are not a vibe. Also tables are better for people watching.

Who’s playing in your ideal hotel bar (live or DJ)?

Live music always, not enough of it these days. Or a selector DJ with no mixing, I do love that in bars as well.

Do you ever strike up a conversation with strangers?

Always, too often even!

You can invite 3 people, dead or alive, to join you for a drink. Who’s it going to be?

George Michael
Frankie Knuckles
Janet Jackson

What’s your preferred bar snack?

Twisties would be my fave if the world was only more kind to Twisties and they were cool. For those reading at home it’s bogan Australian crisp.

What would be your opening track for a late night hotel room gathering?

Well to be honest this is my biggest fear. For someone who DJs, I find people are so judgemental at afters and also are so off when they pick music. There’s always someone trying to put one 3 hour deep electronic mix and it’s just not the vibe sometimes sitting in a small room.

I once put on Elton John – Sacrifice because I couldn’t deal with hectic dance music at morning kick on – let’s just say it didn’t go down well. But if I was forced to I would just play the most obnoxious 80’s music because that’s what I love. It’s not a club so just chill and let some Eric Carmen – Hungry Eyes take over your soul haha. No one needs a kick drum for 6 hours straight after the club or just go back to club if you want some kick drums.

Any other hotel fun facts or stories you would like to share?

I found out recently that they are set to resting male temperature and I’ve always wondered why I was freezing my tits off. Now I know why all those times it felt like a morgue. I finally found out it wasn’t me!

I’ve had a lot of after parties in hotels. Most stories are not for here sadly, but I do have one funny memory of walking into a DJs hotel room and seeing socks covering all the smoke alarms hanging down from the ceiling. Hotel phones unplugged. This girl really had done this before and she was well prepared, she taught me all I know haha.

Last year I did see someone go through a wall, that was quite the time and quite expensive.
